Help Shanti run, play and enjoy the
life she deserves ❤️
Shanti is a beautiful young dog with so much life ahead of her. She should have years of running, playing, exploring and getting up to all the mischief that young dogs do.
But Shanti needs our help.
If you look at her photos, you’ll notice the significant bend in one of her front legs. Despite this, Shanti simply gets on with life. She is a happy youngster who wants to play and explore the world around her. She manages remarkably well, although sometimes her leg causes her to stumble.
Until recently, we hoped that because Shanti was coping so well, nothing more would need to be done. Sadly, we now know that may not be the case.
Shanti’s X-rays have been reviewed by a specialist, who has advised us that without treatment she is likely to develop arthritis as she gets older, which could potentially shorten her life due to the pain. For such a young dog, the thought of her facing years of increasing discomfort and pain is heartbreaking - particularly when there may be something we can do now to change her future.
Shanti needs further specialist X-rays so that the vets can understand exactly what is happening with her leg and decide how best to correct it. We expect these investigations and the surgery she is likely to need to cost around £4,000.
For a small rescue, £4,000 is an enormous amount of money. But when we look at Shanti, we don't see a dog defined by a wonky leg. We see a young dog who deserves every opportunity to live a full, happy and active life.
Amputation isn't considered a good alternative for her. Shanti is a large dog and would find managing on three legs particularly difficult, especially as it is one of her front legs that is affected. Our hope is to correct the problem and give her the best possible chance of keeping all four paws firmly - if sometimes enthusiastically on the ground.
We want to see Shanti run without stumbling. We want to see her play without her leg holding her back. And, most importantly, we want to give her the chance to grow older without avoidable pain.
That's why we're asking for your help.
If you can spare £5, £10, £20, or whatever you can manage, every single donation will take Shanti a little closer to the treatment she needs. Lots of small donations really can add up to something life changing. And if you're unable to donate, you can still do something incredibly valuable for Shanti: please share her story.
Share it with your friends. Share it with your family. Share it on your social media. Every share puts Shanti in front of someone new, and that person might be the one who donates, shares again, or helps us reach someone who can make a difference.
We can't do this alone but together, we might just be able to give this lovely girl the future she deserves.
Please help us raise £4,000 for Shanti and give her the chance to run, play and enjoy being a young dog, not just now, but for many happy years to come.
Thank you, as always, for being there for our dogs ❤️.
