Celebrating Jenna and Ralph: finalists for the BBC Make a Difference Award

We’re incredibly proud to share some truly inspiring news about two very special members of our RATS family. Jenna, who once led the dog teams here at RATS, and Ralph, an extraordinary deaf and blind Collie rescued by our team, have been shortlisted for a BBC Make a Difference Award!

Ralph

Since his rescue, Ralph has blossomed into a much-loved therapy dog, bringing warmth, comfort, and joy to hospital patients across Hertfordshire. His gentle spirit and incredible resilience continue to touch so many lives. Meanwhile, Jenna has taken her passion even further by launching her own charity, based in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, where she continues her mission to change lives through kindness, dedication, and unwavering compassion.

Together, Jenna and Ralph perfectly embody the true spirit of compassion, resilience, and hope. Their journey is a powerful reminder of how much animals can teach us about courage and love, and how people can make a difference through dedication and heart.

They’ve been named finalists in the Animal Award category, which celebrates animals who make a meaningful difference to human lives, as well as the extraordinary people who go above and beyond to support animal welfare. Out of hundreds of inspiring nominations, Jenna and Ralph have been chosen as two of just four finalists – an incredible honour that speaks to the impact of their work.
