Meet Herbie!
A Boy Who Deserves a Fresh Start 💕🐾
Herbie is the most adorable two year old Cockerpoo. He is a bundle of energy and his tail never stops wagging. However, he does have a few behavioural challenges, so we are looking for a very special, experienced home for him.
Herbie loves going out for walks and he is very good with other dogs when he is out and about. His favourite thing is to sniff virtually every bush, lamppost and blade of grass!. We think that we would really enjoy an activity like scent work, which is a great activity for enrichment, whilst also using his clever brain.
Once Herbie knows someone well he is very affectionate and he loves a cuddle. However, with new people he often gives mixed messages; he asks for attention, but when fuss is given he can become snappy. He also has a habit of guarding things that are of high value to him; mainly food and toys. He sometimes snaps if something is taken away from him and this has resulted in a couple of nips. Herbie’s issues seem to become more pronounced when he first arrives in a home environment, but we hope that with clear rules and boundaries he will be able to settle and become the wonderful pet we know he can be.
We are looking for owners for Herbie who are experienced with Cockerpoos or spaniels and who are familiar with this type of behaviour. We are looking for a pet free home for Herbie as he can get territorial in the home and, due to his issues, we are also looking for an adult only household. We will provide behavioural support to ensure that Herbie – and his new owners – succeed.

ADOPTION PROCESS
We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.
Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:
Step 1:
The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.
Step 2:
The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.
Step 3:
The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.
Step 4:
The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.
Step 5:
A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.
Step 6:
If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
