Meet Herbie!
A Boy Who Deserves a Fresh Start 💕🐾

Herbie, a two year old Cockerpoo, came into our care recently. He is a sensitive soul who was finding life in a busy household a little too overwhelming so his owners were forced to make the heart-breaking decision to find him a new quieter home.

When he first arrived in our care, Herbie’s coat was quite long and very curly and he was due a haircut. Following his groom, he looks rather different! His cute shaggy look will return in time, but he will need regular grooming to keep him looking neat and tidy.

Herbie is a very affectionate boy and his tail doesn’t stop wagging when it is time for fuss or playtime in the field. He absolutely loves his walks and his favourite thing is to sniff virtually every bush, lamppost and blade of grass! He would probably really enjoy an activity like scent work, which is a great activity for enrichment, whilst also using his clever brain.

Herbie does have a habit of guarding things that are of high value to him; mainly food and toys. He sometimes snaps if something is taken away from him and this has resulted in a couple of nips. Ideally we would like to find owners who are experienced with Cockerpoos or spaniels and who are familiar with this type of behaviour. We will provide behavioural support to ensure that Herbie – and his new owners – succeed.

Herbie gets on well with other dogs, so we are happy that he can share his new home with a canine companion. Due to his resource guarding we are looking for an adult only household who are ready to invest a little time and patience in this wonderful boy.

Are you ready to give this gorgeous boy the calm, loving home he deserves? If so, we would love to hear from you.

ADOPTION PROCESS

We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.

Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:

Step 1:

The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.

Step 2:

The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.

Step 3:

The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.

Step 4:

The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.

Step 5:

A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.

Step 6:

If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
