The Girl With the Melting Eyes 💕🤗
Freda, the most beautiful lurcher, came into our care recently as a stray. We are not sure of her age, but we think she is about a year old.
This gorgeous girl has eyes that will completely melt your heart; when you look into those eyes you cannot help but fall in love with her. She was very timid when she first arrived, but if you sit quietly, she will come and sit with you, and she really enjoys some fuss. She is very thin, so we are making sure that she is eating well. The good news is that she can have as many treats as she likes - which makes her very happy!
Freda hasn’t been confident enough to go out for a walk yet, but she walks beautifully on the lead when we take her out for exercise in the field. At the moment she just likes a quiet wander around the field, just wanting to be near someone she trusts. She hasn’t started doing lurcher zoomies yet, but we’ve got a feeling that once she finds her confidence, she’s going to surprise us all. She hasn’t shown any reactivity to other dogs in the kennels, so we are sure that she could share her new home with another dog.
Freda needs a quiet life and gentle people – owners who will understand that trust will need to be built gradually, one day at a time. She can certainly live with children, but she’d do best with older children who can read her signals and give her the space she needs, at least until she learns that noise and chaos aren’t something to fear any more.
This darling girl isn’t asking for much. Just time, patience and a place to feel safe. Could that be with you?

ADOPTION PROCESS
We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.
Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:
Step 1:
The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.
Step 2:
The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.
Step 3:
The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.
Step 4:
The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.
Step 5:
A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.
Step 6:
If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
