Mabel is a four year old English Bulldog who came into our care recently. Her previous family had rescued her themselves, but sadly she is looking for a new home because their grandson developed some allergies.
This totally laid back girl has made herself very much at home in the kitchen area of the kennels, where we usually find her snuggled up in her bed or snoozing on the sofa. Mabel is very friendly and she loves fuss and attention from the volunteers. Like many Bulldogs, Mabel has sensitive skin. She is on a strict hypoallergenic diet, which will need to be continued in her new home, and we are confident that her skin will gradually improve.
Now, we know it is a little rude to talk about a lady’s weight, but Mabel could do with losing a pound or two! She does enjoy her walks, so we will be looking for an active family who will introduce some regular exercise into Mabel’s life. We are sure she will feel happier and healthier as a result.
Mabel has been introduced to several dogs at the kennels and she generally gets on well with them. There are one or two dogs that she doesn’t like, but we feel that she can live with another dog, subject to careful introductions at our kennels in Buntingford. As she is such a friendly girl she can certainly share her new home with children.

ADOPTION PROCESS
We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.
Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:
Step 1:
The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.
Step 2:
The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.
Step 3:
The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.
Step 4:
The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.
Step 5:
A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.
Step 6:
If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
