Meet Hagrid
A Gentle Giant Searching for His Forever Sofa 🤗💖

Hagrid, an enormous Cane Corso, recently arrived into our care as a stray. His paws are huge, his head is huge and we think he is the biggest cuddle monster we have ever met; so obviously Hagrid seemed to be the perfect name for him! We don’t know anything about his history, but we estimate that he is no more than two years old.

It became apparent very early on that all Hagrid wants is to belong to someone. If you stand still he will sit and lean against you; if you sit on a chair he will sit next to you and give you his paw; if you sit on the sofa he will soon be cuddled up against you. He actually thinks he is a lap dog and he will sit on you given the chance! Even if he is out in the field he will walk placidly alongside you hoping for a stroke or a treat.

Hagrid is a very gentle boy; he takes treats gently and he never barges anyone out of the way. As he is so gentle we believe he’d be wonderful with children, although older children would be best – not because he’d ever mean harm, but simply because his size may mean the occasional accidental bump.

Due to his size we haven’t really been able to introduce him to the other dogs at the kennels, but he has generally responded well when other dogs have walked past his kennel. However, we think that he would thrive as an only dog, so that he can be his new owner’s everything.

Do you have enough room in your home and your heart for this most wonderful boy. Large sofas that can accommodate a giant are a must, along with lots of time for the biggest and best cuddles in the world.

ADOPTION PROCESS

We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.

Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:

Step 1:

The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.

Step 2:

The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.

Step 3:

The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.

Step 4:

The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.

Step 5:

A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.

Step 6:

If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
