Meet Gracie!
From Frightened Stray to Sofa Snuggler 🤗💕
Elegant Gracie came into our care recently as a stray. We don’t know her age, but we believe that she is around a year old. She was very fearful when she first arrived at the kennels and it was so sad to see her tail firmly tucked between her legs. However, it didn’t take her long to realise that she now has a warm comfy bed, lots of food, a cosy coat for chilly days and, most importantly, lots of love from the staff and volunteers.
Gracie is a total sweetheart, who craves attention more than anything else in the world. She loves her walks and she walks beautifully on the lead. As you walk she will pause and gaze up at you, just to make sure that you are still beside her. She is great with other dogs and as she is such a gentle girl, she can certainly share her new home with children.
We have discovered that Gracie has the potential to be an escape artist as she tried to scale one of the fences at the kennels when she first arrived. Fortunately our fences are extremely high, but she would have no trouble scaling a standard six foot garden fence. She therefore needs a home without a garden, or one with extremely high secure boundaries. The good news is that lurchers are actually perfect flat dogs; they are gentle quiet souls who are completely happy with a couple of good daily walks and plenty of sofa time.
If you fancy long gentle walks followed by sofa cuddles with a devoted shadow who’ll never leave your side, then Gracie could be your perfect companion.

Opt to Adopt!
ADOPTION PROCESS
We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.
Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:
Step 1:
The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.
Step 2:
The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.
Step 3:
The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.
Step 4:
The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.
Step 5:
A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.
Step 6:
If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
