Meet Zak!

Poor Cane Corso puppy Zak was heartlessly dumped and ate scraps as a stray for three months. Born in July 2023, he’s just a baby and has already been through traumas that no animal should ever be subjected to. He is now safe and sound in our care, and we are looking for the most compassionate and loving home for him.

This gentle giant is absolutely terrified and shut down at the moment. Due to everything that he has been put through, he quite rightly doesn’t have faith in humans, but we’re working hard to restore that trust.

He comes to life when he is in the company of other dogs though, and he is happiest when he is playing in the field with Morris, a mastiff puppy who is also currently in our care. We feel that Zak needs to live with another big dog in his new home, who will help to soothe his anxieties and show him the way.

Zak is too frightened to go for walks, so we’re looking for a very quiet, adult-only home with a nice garden, ideally in a rural setting so that he can eventually be introduced to the outside world without it being too overwhelming. Although he’s a big, soppy boy, we don’t have a lot of information about his past, so he cannot live with cats.

We will provide all the necessary support to Zak’s new owners to make sure that he is given the best chance of having a happy future. It’s going to take a lot of time and patience to gain his trust and help him to overcome his fears, but we’re sure that you will be rewarded with complete loyalty and devotion.

Zak has recently had an operation to remove his cherry eye, which you can see in his photos and he is healing well. He is otherwise in great health.

Do you think you could help us to turn Zak’s life around, and help him to find the safety and happiness he deserves? Please get in touch!

ADOPTION PROCESS

We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.

Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:

Step 1:

The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.

Step 2:

The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.

Step 3:

The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.

Step 4:

The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.

Step 5:

A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.

Step 6:

If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
