Tycho (Reserved)
Age: 7 Years
Breed: Cairn Terrier
Size: Medium
Gender: Male

Meet Tycho!

This very handsome little chap is Tycho (pronounced “tee-ko”), a 7 year old Cairn Terrier. He is looking for his forever home as his owner sadly passed away recently.

Tycho will have been even more bewildered than most dogs to have had his life turned upside down, as he’s blind. But he has been such a brave boy and has taken everything in his stride. He doesn’t let his disability get in the way of enjoying life either - he’s affectionate, friendly and he loves to go for nice, sniffy walks. His waggy tail when he hears his name is absolutely adorable!

We’d love for Tycho’s forever family to have experience with blind dogs but if you have fallen head over heels for him and you don’t have a lot of experience, we are happy to provide you with plenty of support. He copes so well with not being able to see and once he has mapped out your home, he’ll be no trouble at all. He just wants to be like any other dog!

Tycho is very happy to be around other dogs as long as they are calm. In fact, having another dog around would be beneficial to him and would help him to settle and feel safe. He hasn’t lived with cats or small furries before.

Although Tycho has grown up with children, his blindness has occasionally made him a little protective of his food so we can only consider a home with older children (12 years and over), who would understand his boundaries and the warning signs if he is worried.

Are you as head over heels for Tycho as we are? Please get in touch!

ADOPTION PROCESS

We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.

Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:

Step 1:

The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.

Step 2:

The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.

Step 3:

The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.

Step 4:

The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.

Step 5:

A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.

Step 6:

If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
