Meet Nera!
The Light That Refused to Go Out

Darling Nera came into our care after she was handed into a vet with a broken leg that had become infected. At just a year old she had already been through so much, through no fault of her own. We originally thought that her leg would have to be amputated, but our incredible vets were able to save it. Although she can now use all four legs, her previously injured leg will always be her vulnerable spot. Therefore she will always have to be walked on a lead to avoid the danger of her damaging her leg again.

Nera has been recovering in a fabulous foster home and her fosterer tells us that she is clever, obedient, patient and respectful. She loves people and she is also good with children and other dogs. She is crate trained and housetrained too. She is a funny girl and, like many lurchers, her favourite position is on her back with her legs up in the air!!

We believe that Nera is the perfect name for this special girl as it means light in Hebrew and even the individual letters describe her well:

N: never complains;

E: endurance;

R: resilience; and

A: adorable.

Are you ready to give this gorgeous girl her happy ever after? In return she will shower you with affection, make you laugh, and remind you every day what true courage looks like.

ADOPTION PROCESS

We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.

Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:

Step 1:

The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.

Step 2:

The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.

Step 3:

The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.

Step 4:

The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.

Step 5:

A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.

Step 6:

If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
