Meet Maggie!
Marvellous Maggie recently came into our care as an unclaimed stray. We don’t know her history but we strongly suspect that she has been used for breeding in a puppy farm environment, and didn’t have a very nice life before she joined the RATS family.
Initially very quiet and timid, Maggie has come out of her shell in foster care and she’s enjoying living a life of luxury whilst she patiently waits for her forever home.
Here is what Maggie’s fosterer has reported so far:
“Maggie is the most loving little soul you could ever meet. She just wants to be with a person and be snuggled. When she first greets you, it's not just a waggy tail - it's an entire waggy body. We call her waggie maggie!
She loves soft toys, she carries them around so gently like they are her babies, makes a little pile of them and cuddles into them. As soon as a person sits down, she will be right next to them, snuggled into their side. She doesn't know how to climb stairs or walk on a lead yet but we’re working on getting her accustomed to them. She also isn't completely clean in the house, but we are working on that too. Maggie loves her food and wags her tail the entire time she eats.”
Maggie would benefit from a friendly fellow dog in her new home, who will help her to feel confident and show her the ropes. She cannot live with cats but we are happy to consider a family home with children over 10 years old, who would understand her boundaries.
We will provide Maggie’s new owners with some initial behavioural support to continue the fantastic work that her fosterer has been doing with getting her used to living in a home environment.
We are expecting Maggie to be very popular so if you think you can offer her a home, please complete our adopter enquiry form and we will endeavour to respond within 7 days.

ADOPTION PROCESS
We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.
Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:
Step 1:
The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.
Step 2:
The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.
Step 3:
The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.
Step 4:
The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.
Step 5:
A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.
Step 6:
If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
