Meet Ernie!
The Confident Charmer with a Stripe of Distinction
Ernie is a strikingly handsome lurcher who came into our care recently with his brother Bert. He is black with a delicate white stripe along his nose, which is the only way we can tell him apart from his brother. Bert and Ernie were born in April this year, so they are still just puppies and it is safe to say that they have captured the hearts of everyone at the kennels. We think that they are whippet crosses, which means they will be medium sized when they finish growing.
When they arrived at the kennels, Ernie was the shyer of the two, but he has really blossomed into the most affectionate boy. He has become much more confident too and he is definitely the leader of the pack when it comes to games with Bert in the field. Ernie loves going out for walks and he copes well with traffic going by.
Ernie loves zooming around the field with his brother, but he also adores cuddles. He will happily climb onto the lap of anyone who sits down with him and he certainly has the potential to be a proper lap dog! Ernie’s outgoing, loving nature makes him an ideal family companion. His confidence and affectionate temperament means he can certainly live with children in his new home. He is also good with other dogs, so he can potentially live with another similar sized dog in his new home, subject to careful introductions at our kennels in Buntingford.
Are you looking for long country walks with a confident companion by your side followed by peaceful snoozes on the sofa? If so, Ernie could be just the boy for you.

ADOPTION PROCESS
We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.
Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:
Step 1:
The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.
Step 2:
The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.
Step 3:
The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.
Step 4:
The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.
Step 5:
A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.
Step 6:
If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
