Meet Casper!

This elegant-looking two year old Lurcher came into our care as a stray. Now safe and loved immeasurably by our volunteers at the RATS kennels, he'll never find himself unwanted and abandoned again.

Sweet and gentle, Casper is a very popular boy with our team. He spends his days happily snuggled up on his own sofa with lots of strokes and company. Not only do the humans at RATS adore him, he is also great friends with many of our four-legged residents.

Before snoozing, he likes to go for a long walk, with a round of crazy zoomies in the field when he gets back for good measure. He makes us laugh so much when his eyes widen with delight at the sight of his harness and he sometimes even leaps up in the air with joy. He's such a happy lad, and his needs are so simple; love, adventures, cuddles, cosiness and company.

We aren't sure whether Casper has lived in a home before and he becomes anxious when he is left. His new family will need to commit to working with him to ease his worries when he's alone. He can behave animatedly at the sight of other dogs when he is out and about.

His training will be a slow process but with time, compassion and patience (and perhaps a canine friend for extra comfort), we're confident that our beloved boy will make a wonderful pet to a very lucky household.

Can you offer Casper the loving home he deserves more than anything? Please get in touch!

We have a number of animals in our care. Most are homeless through no fault of their own and are looking for furever homes and owners who can give them the love and attention they deserve.

Please take a few moments to familiarise yourself with our adoption process:

Step 1:

The animal is admitted into our care, and assessed by our team.

Step 2:

The animal is examined by a vet, who treats any ailments or injuries.

Step 3:

The appropriate team leader will liaise with the potential adopter to get to know them and assess whether they are a potential purr-fect match.

Step 4:

The potential new owners meet the animal, and decide if they want to adopt. New owners may be asked to visit the animal several times before the adoption takes place.

Step 5:

A pre-adoption home visit will then be made to new owners home to meet the members of the household and to ensure that the environment is safe.

Step 6:

If the visit goes well, you will be asked to collect the animal and to make an adoption donation (amount on request) as well as to sign an agreement to care for the pet with a commitment to return them to us if you can't continue to do so.
