~ Small Mammal Update ~ This summer the Small Mammals Team have replaced nearly all their hutches. Sadly, we no longer receive donations of good quality hutches – people retain them or sell. We have purchased “stacker” breeder type hutches giving us 23 in total and have now started to replace the runs as well. This has been a lot of hard work for our five foster homes as old hutches need to be broken up – the tip will not accept complete hutches, its wire and wood! Our partners have been kept very busy whilst we have settled the animals in their new hutches.

I am pleased to say that the baby guinea pigs mentioned in the last newsletter have done well, two were females, three males and the females have gone to a local school as pets, Mum and the female we paired her up with are reserved whilst they get the hutch and run sorted so that is good news as it takes the numbers down.
