R.A.T.S. Relocation: Animal Rescue Charity Calling Volunteer Dog Walkers
If you’re slimming down in preparation for the indulgent festive season that will soon be upon us or you just want to get outdoors and get some exercise then animal rescue charity Rehoming Animal Telephone Service (R.A.T.S.) can help. R.A.T.S. will be opening a rescue centre in Hare Street, near Buntingford, Hertfordshire and is looking for new volunteers in the surrounding area who would like to help walk their four-legged friends while they wait for new abodes.
Dog walking is a great way to exercise and is ideal for people with a busy lifestyle who would love to have a canine of their own but just don’t have the time or money to take on the full responsibility. Not only is it good for people, but it’s great for the dogs as well. The exercise and interaction with people makes their stay in kennels happier and less stressful and also helps prepare them for eventual rehoming.

Lisa Graham, R.A.T.S volunteer, said: “I’ve been walking the dogs at R.A.T.S for over three years now and I absolutely love it. I’d love a dog but just don’t have the time so walking rescue dogs is the next best thing. It’s also really rewarding as I’m helping a good cause, too. I hope that when R.A.T.S. moves to Hare Street there will be lots of people who are able to continue walking the dogs as it makes their time in kennels so much better.”
The new premises will host R.A.T.S’ new rescue centre, complete with kennels and a cattery to house up to 12 dogs and 12 cats. The charity is planning to open its doors to the public from 1st November and is looking for anyone who would like to volunteer, from helping at events and fundraising, donating bedding and food, to walking dogs. R.A.T.S is also looking for someone locally to look after the cats at the cattery.
If you want to find out more about becoming a volunteer with R.A.T.S then please call Mandy or Walter on 01763 269688 or email: info.rats@gmail.com
